Welcome to Kage, the first-ever DePIN Play-to-Earn mobile game where players earn crypto by contributing to the development of indoor navigation and low-power wayfinding solutions. In Kage, you’ll use your smartphone to detect wireless networks and help Chirp build the world’s first community-owned geolocation database. For your efforts, you’ll be rewarded with $CHIRP tokens.
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to get started.
Please note, this is the alpha pre-TGE release of Kage, which offers players a chance to earn $CHIRP tokens even before the TGE. This release includes two stages of $CHIRP reward distribution: the first occurring shortly after the TGE and the second taking place just before the main release of Kage.
Dive into our guide to learn all the details!
Step 1: Download Kage
Kage is available only for android devices and alpha pre-TGE release can be downloaded on:
Step 2: Create an Account or Sign In
Once Kage is installed, you’ll need to either create a new account or sign in with an existing one. Follow the simple registration process to get started.
Step 3: Onboarding with Murray
Meet Murray, your in-game assistant who will guide you through the onboarding process.
Step 4: Getting to Know the Kage Interfaces
After the onboarding process is over you will enter the game.
Kage has 5 sections between which players can navigate using a panel at the bottom of the screen:
- Main Screen
- Leaderboard Screen
- Scanning Screen
- Map Screen (available soon)
- Wallet Screen
Main Screen
Here, you can:
- Share about Kage on your Socials
- Follow Chirp Socials and stay updated
- Access the Menu where you can adjust your nickname and avatar, as well as reach out to Chirp support in any case
- View your position in the overall leaderboard and within your alliance.
- See how many wireless networks you’ve detected and how many Data Chips you’ve earned.
Leaderboard Screen
Here, you can check your position on the overall leaderboard or on the leaderboard within your alliance.
Scanning Screen
This is where your smartphone becomes a powerful wireless signal detector!
Activate scanning with just one tap to start searching for wireless networks, earning Data Chips, and climbing to the top of the leaderboard.
Wallet Screen
Wallet Screen helps you track your $CHIRP rewards earned for your actions in Kage.
Please note, that without a Sui wallet connected to your Chirp account you will not be able to claim your rewards.
Sui wallet connection is possible only through desktop version by accessing https://app.chirpwireless.io/settings/rewards-wallet.
Step 5: Preparing to Search for signals
The Scanning Screen is where you start detecting wireless signals. To begin scanning, you’ll need to:
- Enable geolocation on your device.
- Turn on Bluetooth to detect nearby wireless networks.
Murray will remind you on that anyway.
You’re all set! With just one tap, you can start searching for wireless signals and earn $CHIRP.
Kage Gameplay Process
As a player, your main objective is to detect as many wireless signals as possible. Whether you’re walking, running, or using transportation, aim to detect WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular towers.
Keep in mind:
- Duplicated Wireless Networks: The game will filter out any duplicate networks to ensure accurate data collection. Detecting the same networks in 24 hours period won’t add you extra Data Chips
- Speed of Movement: Moving too quickly may affect your ability to detect all available networks.
- GPS Signal: Only with a strong GPS signal player can detect wireless signals. If GPS signal is unstable you will be notified
- Anti-spoofing: Kage has built-in anti-spoofing measures to ensure fair gameplay and accurate data collection. At Chirp we protect the rewards of honest players. If you are caught cheating, you will be banned.
Scoring System
The more wireless networks you detect, the more Data Chips you earn. As your Data Chip total increases, so does your position on the leaderboard.
Every network (Bluetooth, WiFi or Cell tower) you detect has a rating. The more times a network is detected, the higher its rating becomes.
Here’s how it works:
- Network Rating Basics
Each network’s (Cell tower, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth) rating starts at 0.
Each time a user scans the network, its rating increases by 1 point.
A single user can only increase the rating of the same network once per 24 hours.
2. How Data Chips calculation works
When you scan a network, you earn Data Chips based on:
- The type of network (e.g., Cell tower, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth).
- The network’s current rating (how many times it has been detected already).
Networks with a low rating give more Data Chips because they are less frequently scanned.
As a network’s rating gets higher, the reward decreases.
3. Network Types and their basic Scores:
Cell tower = 100 Data Chips
Wi-Fi = 10 Data Chips
Bluetooth = 5 Data Chips
Additionally, Daily visit to Kage app brings 1000 Data Chips
In the upcoming updates, additional possibilities to collect Data Chip will be introduced:
For sharing about Kage on Social Medias
For inviting your friends to join Kage
$CHIRP Rewards
In the alpha pre-TGE Kage release we will reward the top leaderboard participants two times:
- First $CHIRP token distribution will be held shortly after the TGE from the pool specially dedicated to all Chirp pre TGE rewarding activities that equals to 3 000 000 $CHIRP for all airdrop campaigns.
- Second $CHIRP token distribution will be within the main Kage version release and rewards will be allocated from the “Ecosystem Growth Pool” 15% of the total token supply over 10 years.
With the launch of the alpha pre-TGE release, Kage introduces two leaderboards: Overall and Within Alliances. The Overall Leaderboard rewards Kage’s early adopters during the alpha pre-TGE phase, tracking cumulative progress from the start of the game.
When the main Kage release goes live, a Round system will be introduced, and a third leaderboard — Rounds Leaderboard — will be added. This leaderboard resets at the start of each new Round, ensuring fairness and giving everyone a fresh chance to compete for $CHIRP rewards in each Round.
The Overall Leaderboard will continue to track progress from the alpha pre-TGE launch. In addition to rewarding early adopters during the alpha phase, it will also offer exclusive benefits to top participants after the main release.
More details about these rewards will be shared soon.
Wallet and Rewards Claim
All $CHIRP reward operations are managed via the Chirp Platform desktop version at app.chirpwireless.io.
To be able to claim $CHIRP rewards that will be airdropped to you after the TGE, connect your Sui wallet through the Chirp Platform (detailed guide).
Players can track how many rewards are available for claim directly in the Kage game.
Wings of Chronos
Shortly after the alpha pre-TGE Kage release goes live, the permanent in-game campaign, Wings of Chronos, will be launched. This campaign will send players on a hunt for rare objects known as Feathers, hidden in various cities around the world. These Feathers come in two forms: Bluetooth-enabled physical items and NFTs. Players can earn tokens by locating physical items, while NFTs provide unique in-game bonuses and extra rewards.
The campaign will begin in Europe and gradually expand globally, inviting players worldwide to join the Kage experience. More information about the Wings of Chronos challenge will be shared soon.
With Kage, you’re not just playing a mobile game — you’re actively participating in the next frontier of IoT and decentralized infrastructure. The journey has just begun, with more features and challenges on the horizon.
