Kage continues to evolve, bringing new opportunities for players to earn CHIRP tokens while contributing to a global geolocation database. As we progress, it’s essential to provide a clear update on the ongoing mining round, how rewards are structured, and what to expect from the upcoming main version of Kage. This article will answer many questions we have already received and may receive in the future from players. However, we would like to start with a broader perspective to ensure that both current and future Data Hunters have a clear and comprehensive understanding of what Kage is.
We’ll begin with a brief recap: Kage is a mobile game for Android devices where players mine CHIRP tokens by building a geolocation database. This database will be used by Chirp as part of its services, providing access to geolocation data for various clients via API calls.
Kage’s initial pre-TGE round ended on January 20, 2025, rewarding the top Kage player with 4,699.69 CHIRP tokens. On January 20 at 12:00 CET, the next Kage round began and is currently ongoing. Unlike the pre-TGE round, where rewards came from the marketing pool (a fixed allocation for pre-TGE marketing activities), this round’s rewards are sourced from the Ecosystem Growth Pool (EGP), fully aligned with Chirp’s tokenomics.
Below, we will explain everything about the current round and briefly introduce the main Kage version, where rewards will be automatically allocated via the CHIRP smart contract. But first, let’s cover the basic yet essential details of Kage.
Kage basics
Kage provides access to mining CHIRP tokens. Current round rewards and all future rewards are allocated from the Ecosystem Growth Pool (EGP) according to Chirp tokenomics. The only difference is that the current round’s rewards will be distributed manually, since the automatic distribution tool will only be implemented in the main version of Kage. From the information below, you’ll understand how many CHIRP tokens are allocated for Kage rewards.
CHIRP tokens for Kage rewards are minted in the Ecosystem Growth pool at regular intervals through Epochs and Stages as part of Chirp’s tokenomics. 70% of the EGP are used to reward KAGE players.
Ecosystem Growth Pool Structure for Minting CHIRP Tokens:
- 1 Epoch = 2 days → 60,000 CHIRP minted
- 1 Stage = 45 Epochs (90 days) → 2,700,000 CHIRP minted
Kage Reward Allocation (70% of EGP)
- 1 Epoch = 2 days → 42,000 CHIRP for Kage
- 1 Stage = 45 Epochs (90 days) → 1,890,000 CHIRP for Kage
(The remaining 30% of CHIRP from the EGP is allocated for staking rewards.)
This system will remain the same moving forward. Every two days, the Kage prize pool is increased by 42,000 CHIRP. However, starting from the main Kage version release, Kage’s structure will be clearly defined with fixed cycles*:
- 1 Epoch = 2 days
- 1 Round = 20 Epochs (40 days)
- 1 Season = 60 Epochs (120 days)
*Subject to change
Players will always know how many CHIRP tokens are there in the prize pool, but the number of winners will vary from round to round or season to season. This information will be communicated before each round or season begins.
As for the current round, it will be the last round with manual rewards distribution and does not have a fixed end date yet.
From the information above, you can see that Kage’s mining pool is continuously replenished with newly minted CHIRP tokens, strictly following Chirp’s tokenomics. All CHIRP tokens allocated for Kage rewards in the current round will be distributed among the winners. As of the date of publication (March 17), the mining prize pool contains 1 176 000 CHIRP tokens.
Ongoing Round: All You Need to Know
Round Duration and Prize Pool
- Start: January 20, 12:00 CET
- End: Open-ended (no later than May 20, 2025)
We aim to release the main Kage version as soon as possible. However, we are currently focused on token protection tools, so the final end date remains undecided. For clarity, we will calculate the prize pool scenario for the max potential finish date of the current round — May 20 (60 Epochs / 120 days).
With each Epoch (2 days), the prize pool increases by 42,000 CHIRP.
Winners and Reward Distribution
The current Kage round follows a linear tier-based reward model with 5,000 winners in the general distribution and a flexible number of winners for the referral program. With the increase of total prize pool the rewards for each tier are increased proportionally.
for the current round can be used to check rewards distribution for any Epoch from period April 10 to May 20 during which the main version of Kage will be released (e.g. April 10, 12, 14….May 16, 18, 20)
Why 5,000 Winners?
We analyzed the performance of Kage players in the current round based on their scanning activities — the key factor in climbing the leaderboard. The analysis showed that players ranked below position 5,000 have very low activity levels (less than 10 wireless networks of each type scanned), meaning their contribution to building the geolocation database is minimal.
However, the limit of 5,000 top players is not set in stone. With more players contributing to the database and higher levels of activity, the number of rewarded players may increase in future rounds.
Minimum Data Chips Threshold
The analysis of player activity in the current round led us to conclude that a minimum threshold in Data Chips should be established for the 1st and all future rounds to qualify for Kage mining rewards.
- Current round minimum threshold: 1,000,000 Data Chips
- This threshold may be adjusted in future rounds based on player performance and system updates.
Referral Program
Total Referral Program Prize Pool: 200,000 CHIRP (fixed)
With the recent update to the Kage referral program, players can earn a maximum of 200,000 Data Chips per round by inviting up to 10 people. These 200,000 Data Chips will be added to the player’s total Data Chips.
Referral actions exceeding 10 invitees or those made before the recent update are still tracked and recorded but will not earn additional Data Chips. However, they still give you a chance to receive extra CHIRP rewards from the separate 200,000 CHIRP prize pool.
The more active players you invite and the more they engage with Kage, the higher your CHIRP rewards will be.
NO CHEATING ALLOWED
Suspicious activity-like identical signals, unusual scanning patterns, or inflated Bluetooth/Wi-Fi ratios-will be flagged. If you’re caught using unfair methods, your Data Chips will be removed, and repeat offenders may face a temporary ban.
Kage Main Version
The upcoming main version of Kage represents a significant evolution of the game, introducing automated rewards, structured mining rounds, and new gamification tools. Players will have greater transparency, more earning opportunities, and exciting features that enhance their mining experience.
Stay tuned for more updates, as we will continue unveiling details about Kage’s main version as we approach its release. In the meantime, keep mining CHIRP and get ready for the next phase of Kage!
