As we step into the spring of 2024, Chirp continues its journey toward revolutionizing the telecommunications landscape through its Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN), integrating cutting-edge technology with community-driven innovations. In this edition of our development diary, we delve into the significant strides made over the past months, highlighting feature enhancements, bug fixes, and the introduction of smart contract technology.
New and Enhanced features
1. Simplified and more secure authorization
- New sign-up, sign-in, social sign-in, forgot password and verify e-mail pages have been added.
- Enhanced security of personal data implemented.
- New mandatory acceptance checkboxes for Terms of Use and Privacy Policy during sign-up, ensuring compliance and transparency.
2. Crypto on-chain Explorer
- Introduced an epoch loading bar for real-time epoch updates.
- New charts for token supply insights: overall quantity and percentage distribution.
- Transaction and payment lists with direct links to the Sui explorer for detailed exploration.
- Enhanced navigation with classic pagination and sped up data processing for a smoother experience.
3. Map Explorer
- Location search field added to the map for pinpoint navigation.
- Implemented loaders on device modification pages, reducing error warnings.
- Ping distance visibility on the Explorer for enhanced interaction.
4. Dashboard (User board, Mining board, Devices & Gateways)
- Integrated a “Testnet” banner, an epoch loading bar, current Epoch status, and visual reward history for each epoch, respectively.
- Enhanced visualization with a comprehensive map displaying user miner locations alongside a list of user miners, facilitating user experience and network engagement.
- Added a new histogram “Rewards” shows rewards for a specific gateway.
- Optimized device and gateway table performance.
- “Add reward wallet” widget on Gateway pages, activated for users with miners, but without wallet connected.
- “Add reward wallet” step in “Add Chirp Miner” process.
5. Blockchain
- A ‘Chirp’ smart contract has been created. This contract encompasses the complete Chirp Token contract. It allows the minting of tokens and their distribution through liquidity pools according to tokenomic
- A ‘Ledger’ smart contract has been developed. This contract functions as a decentralized mechanism that frequently stores the rewards information into the IPFS, utilizing IPFS CID. This CID consists of all the essential information related to the reward calculations conducted during the Chirp Epoch, which is then subsequently logged into the Sui Blockchain
- Established a decentralized reward distribution mechanism, making reward calculations transparent and efficient
6. Other
- A new Chirp sim card page has been added at chirpwireless.io
- Changelog posts are now available for your feedback. Feel free to share your impressions with us.
- The Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are now hosted at docs.chirpwireless.io.
Bug Fixes
1. Device and Network Enhancements:
- Rectified an issue where the device sharing table failed to update after a device was un-shared, ensuring accurate display of device status.
- Corrected the order of epochs on the Graph to accurately reflect chronological progression, enhancing data interpretation.
- Resolved a visibility issue where no data was being displayed for shared devices on the device list page, now ensuring all shared devices are properly listed.
- Addressed a critical bug that caused some sim cards to crash the page, guaranteeing stability across all functionalities.
2. Reward System Improvements:
- Fixed a discrepancy in the Reward Wallet where the current balance was incorrectly shown as 0, now accurately reflecting the actual balance.
- Addressed inaccuracies in the “Last Payment” and “Total” displays within the Rewards section, which previously shown as 0 regardless of actual amounts.
- Eliminated a fault where rewards payments were incorrectly being made for non-approved gateways, ensuring rewards are distributed correctly according to policy.
3. Mobile User Interface Corrections:
- Alleviated an issue causing minor zoom after any entry field change, streamlining the mobile user experience.
- Enhanced the scroll functionality on the Rewards details page, which was previously non-operational.
- Reinstated the wallet connection warning popup on the Gateways page, which was missing, to better inform users.
- Adjusted the placement of the ‘Device is supported in beta’ widget for optimal visibility and access.
- Corrected graphical anomalies in the Graphs axes, presenting a clearer and more accurate visual representation
